Director of Development

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Joffrey Ballet is looking for a multi-talented, energetic Director of Development to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a world-renowned company at the inception of the creative process through production.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Development role is ideal for a take-charge individual with ability to manage administration and logistics busy development program. S/he must be able to raise money and manage the day to day operations of Joffrey’s development program. The primary fundraising responsibility of the Director of Development is to develop sound programs, processes, and systems that support the cultivation, renewal and acquisition of Annual Fund Donors. The Director of Development works closely with the Vice President of Development and manages day-to-day departmental staff including Institutional Giving Manager, Individual Giving Manager, Stewardship Manager and Development Research Analyst.

 

DESIRED SKILL & EXPERIENCE
Undergraduate degree required A minimum of five (5) years of development experience necessary. A proven track record of accomplishments and success in development and fundraising in a major arts or related organization.

Institutional Giving Manager

The Joffrey Ballet, a world-renowned classical ballet company, is dedicated to the vision of American dance on which Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino founded The Joffrey Ballet. This uniquely American classical company, now residing in Chicago, continues to preserve, re-create and present the historical masterpieces of 20th century choreographers; nurture, commission and present works of young artists, particularly Americans, to audiences worldwide; and present the productions and ballet of the founders Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino. Artistic Director Ashley Wheater leads The Joffrey into a new and exciting era and also to the new home of the company, the Joffrey Tower.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Institutional Giving Manager reports to the Vice President of Development and is responsible for managing and implementing the process to raise general operating, program support and sponsorship funds from corporate, foundation and government sources as well as managing relationships, and executing benefits related to their support. This position works closely with the Executive Director, volunteer Board leadership, Vice President of Development, and the other members of the development department.

 

DESIRED SKILL & EXPERIENCE
The Joffrey is currently seeking an Institutional Giving Manager. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of accomplishments and success in grant writing, sponsorship development and management, and fundraising from institutional prospects and donors, in a major arts or related organization. Must be a self-starter, organized, and have the ability to make decisions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Must have the capability to articulate themselves in writing and speak persuasively about the needs and goals of The Joffrey. Excellent writing skills are required. Knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge a plus. Outstanding computer skills required. Must be professional, detail-oriented and have first-rate organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Telephone Sales Representatives

JOFFREY BALLET NOW HIRING SALES REPRESENTATIVES!

We are seeking telephone sales representatives for our professional call center located at The Joffrey Ballet in downtown Chicago. You will be primarily responsible for expanding the Joffrey’s upcoming 2011-2012 season subscriptions, helping previous patrons and new ones buy season tickets.

 

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of closing telephone sales of long term services or subscriptions, with some knowledge of ballet and, ideally, knowledge of The Joffrey Ballet. Some computer skills needed.

 

A business casual appearance and professional manner is required as well as experience in sales, marketing and or customer relations. Respondents should be highly motivated, reliable, punctual, outgoing, trustworthy and creative. The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility and creativity in understanding the patron’s decision making process, helping them envision the experience they will enjoy and effectively communicating the benefits of purchasing.

 

Position is part-time, base salary, plus commission and bonuses. Hours are primarily evenings with some weekend and daytime shifts.
